Indonesia Lion Air gets nod to resume route applications

Lion Airlines (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has submitted applications to the Indonesian Directorate General Of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for forty-four new routes after a four-month long ban was lifted on June 25.


Hadi M Djuraid, a senior advisor to the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, told the Kompass newspaper that while the LCC had indeed submitted its applications, the Ministry had not yet approved them. He said Lion Air had not furnished the Ministry with details concerning requested airport time slots, turnaround times, cabin configuration among others.


Following country-wide flight delays which affected more than 3,000 passengers over the period February 18 to 20, the DGCA suspended Lion Air's permission to operate ten domestic routes in addition to barring it from applying from any new ones.
