Tiger Airways is an airline from Singapore which is recently famous in Indonesia for owning stake in Mandala Airlines. Even the latest symbol of Mandala Airlines is a combination of Mandala and Tiger Airways emblem as a motive in the letter. Tiger Airways was established on December 12th, 2003 and began its maiden flight on September 15th, 2004. The sale of tickets for the first flight was on August 31st, 2004. Tiger Airways is a Singaporean airline which is implementing economical rates for flights beyond Singapore. The airline was the first airline to operate in the budget terminal at Changi Airport. This is done to reduce the cost of operations. Tiger Airways also experienced tough times when the price of jet fuel had increased, coupled with the intense competition in the commercial aviation world.

Tiger Airways flight business concept is a little different from some other airlines. Tiger Airways low-cost carrier targets a market that can be reached by various circles of society. Tiger Airways goal is to create a portfolio of profitable routes in Asia and Australia. Although the concept is low-cost, but the safety and timeliness are not abandoned by the airline. The airline is optimistic that business strategy carried can continue to survive in this competitive commercial airline. Now Tiger Airways is one airline that is highly sought after by the passengers, even in the year 2006, over the year Tiger Airways had been able to fly about 1.2 million passengers and the number is increasing each year.

To further expand its business, Tiger Airways bought shares of several other airlines and runs a joint venture. Even for the sake of supporting the business policy, the company made a special shareholder called Tiger Airways Holdings Limited and it is based in Singapore. Tiger Airways Australia

On February 9th, 2007, Tiger Airways was formally announced the creation of a new airline in Australia. It serves domestic flights between states in Australia. There is different from Singapore's Tiger Airways, the airline brought the concept of low cost airlines.

Mandala Airlines

Mandala Airlines is a private airline in Indonesia. Mandala Airlines had experienced financial problems so the flight license was suspended. Tiger Airways is not wasting this opportunity to establish cooperation with Mandala Airlines, so finally Mandala Airlines could operate again.

South East Asian Airlines (SEAir)

Tiger Airways is also working with the airline carriers from the Philippines, SEAir. Tiger Airways bought 40% of SEAir stake in November 2010. In May 2012, SEAir and Tiger Airways opened routes from Clark Airport to Kinabalu, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kalibo.
